My Blogging Journey

I have been questioned here quite a few times lately about how I began my blogging. So, I thought instead of responding back a few times, I would tell you all about my experience how it all began. As a mommy, I really wanted to learn how to save money. Over a year ago I really started to get into couponing and checking things out with coupons. At the time I had two girls, Big Daughter J and Daughter E and I just wanted to save money, on diapers especially since they are so expensive. When Big Daughter J was in diapers, I would have said, “Coupons, what are they?” I can't even remember if coupons were even a hit when she was that little, she is 8 now. So, as I began to dig into the couponing world, I was amazed at what I could do with coupons and started to tell my friends about them. But for a while there, none of my friends really listened about me saving mony with coupons and I was embarrassed about carrying around my coupons to the stores and even moreseo embarrassed about giving them to the cashier. But after a bit, because this mommy was buying products for close to nothing if not nothing, I started to realize there is no need to be embarrassed, you seriously need to do what you can to save money. As I got more into this, I started to realize there are other people and mommies out there who want to save money also and could really benefit from this and would love to hear how to get products for free or super cheap just by using coupons. Yes, that is what I said, “Just by using COUPONS!!” I got excited about knowing that a little piece of paper could do so much for people like you and me.

I found that on certain days I would really love my mail man because we would get all kinds of coupons and freebies that I had signed up for in the mail and I would get so excited. Other days I didn’t like my mail man, because nothing fun would be in the mail.

So, I started to blog about all of my findings to share with everyone else. And honestly it took me weeks to come up with my Blog name, I think it was because I knew after searching around and looking for coupons, there were other blogs out there and I didn’t want my blog to be like everyone else’s and have same like names. So, I finally came up with Coupon Mommy of 2 and then I started my blog.

As time has grown on, I have continued to find joy in my blog because I not only talk about couponing, but I also talk about my personal dealings with life, my girls and day to day dealings and my new found love is Product Reviews. I wanted others to follow my blog and get excited about the silly things that I would get excited about, I think that is just the mommy in me. Or comment me and tell me little things about posts that I had made like I do with other blogs. Blogging has definitely become huge in today's world.

In September we had our 3rd daughter, Baby B so Coupon Mommy of 2 blog became Coupon Mommy of 2 ... Now 3. I had almost thought about not continuing with my blogsite and a good friend of mine said, "No Shannon you can't stop, then how will I get my deals!"  So, she really talked me into staying and I am really glad she did.  Thanks, Penny!!

I then started a Facebook Fanpage and a Twitter Page and my blog has really started to take off.  I love it and I love my followers.  I really try to keep up with each of you and comment and I hope you all will do the same for me here.  If you are new here, I welcome you and hope you like what you have stumbled upon.  Please follow me, I think I have a great read here.  I have many products and reviews, my day to day dealings, my cloth diapers stories, my kids and anything else you can imagine.

My blogging journey will continue and I am so excited to be moving forward, moving forward into 2010, it is a great source of release for me and I love it.

Leave me a comment, I love comments and Check out my Giveaways!!  THANKS TO YOU ALL!

OUCH....HELP

Sorry this is a blunt post, but I wanted to post what I am going through right now. I don’t feel a Wordless Wednesday at the moment.  So, FYI, be prepared I am blunt in this post!!

Wow, I never thought I would have to say this, but seriously OUCH. I breastfed my two oldest daughters and really didn’t have any issues with either of them. Never had cracked nipples, never had thrush, never had what I hear a lot of other momma’s have had, so I considered myself lucky! I was able to breastfeed my first for 9 months and my second for 14 months. So I really consider myself to be a very lucky momma.

Seriously though, my last pregnancy with my third was different than them all, the delivery was different and many other aspects after have been different too. I do know though all pregnancies will never be the same so therefore childbirth and your children are never the same. So, a lot of things are a whole new world for me, where I almost feel like a first time momma. Seems kind of crazy, but it is true. Breastfeeding Baby B as with my others is amazing and I love the closeness and the bond that grows between the mother and child, but I have been in some major pain.

Two weeks ago, my right breast was cracked and bleeding and the pain was just sore and just a little painful to touch but that has now healed as of early this week and I now have it on the left side. THIS is super painful! It is cracked pretty badly and hurts to even wear my bra or to even feed. I squeal in pain (behind the scenes, don’t want anyone to see this) and it bleeds horribly when pumping at work. I have had to place a piece of napkin on the cut just to pump so that I don’t get blood in the milk. I have turned down the level on the pump, but in all seriousness I have pain so bad, I just want to cry and nothing seems to be helping. I mean just a little bit ago, I was complaining in a funny way that I was lopsided because one breast was bigger than the other, I can deal with that and I thought it was funny, cause I still am lopsided. The joys of breastfeeding and being a mommy… but I can’t believe how much pain I am in.

Did anyone else deal with this and what did you do? HELP a Mommy out.

Tuesdays Thoughts

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. I know everyone has probably been doing the hustle and bustle with the holidays being around!  It went by pretty fast for us, but it was really nice to spend some time with family and enjoy each others company.   For myself, I am used to taking vacation time during the Christmas and New Years Holidays and this year I am working.  Since I had my time off for maternity leave, I didn't have any other time to take for the Holidays.   I still have enjoyed the family time.

Sister J has been out of school so she has been enjoying the time off.  Today she got to go with my parents to see the move Alvin and The Chipmunks and she was overly excited about going to the movies with Nanny and Pop.  She stayed the night tonight, so we are missing her. I can't wait to get the full report tomorrow about the movie.

Things are going well, DH and I are trying to find ways on saving money and getting ourselves ready for a diet starting January 1st. I don't really need a diet, but I want to be on one just to have a more structure on food and a more healthy food.

These are my thoughts for today.  I am sure I have more since the past two days at work haven't been the greatest, but sometimes I just find it better to just remember tomorrow will be a better day.

Do you have any Tuesday thoughts?  If you do, comment here or post your link to head over to your Tuesday thoughts.

Have a great Tuesday.  Only a few more days and it will be the New Year 2010.

Fluffy's Diapers Review and Giveaway

Betsy from Fluffy's Diapers sent me her Size Small Red and Green Ooga Booga Polyester PUL Waterproof Cloth Diaper Cover With Aplix Hook and Loop to review.

I will be honest I thought I would only like AIO diapers or ones with inserts but I fell in love with the Diaper Cover.  I had been given some fitteds previously to review from another source so I tried this diaper cover with it and found a new love.

The Sizing seems to be a true fit to our little lady.  I was sent a size small and Baby B truly fit in this diaper well! Baby B is rather on the skinny side, so I am not sure about how a baby's fit that is little more thicker would be, but honestly I can't imagine it not fitting well!

Fluffy's Diapers is sized as below:
XS 6-12lbs
S 12-18lbs
M 18-28lbs
L 28-40lbs

We gave the diaper cover a couple different tests with a long car ride, overnight and just during the day.  This diaper cover is excellent at keeping leakage at bay because we never had a leakage problem.  The legs have a snug fit and don't turn your little one's legs red. One thing I noticed with this cover is that I could use it again with another fitted diaper because it didn't feel wet to touch.  You could use this again unless it was soiled and that was great.

This cover also has shown great durability because I have washed and dried this diaper a quite a few times already and it still looks like it did when I first got it.  As we all know I like to let you all know if this is a Mommy and Daddy tested and approved and it was most definitly and Daddy even loved the prints.

Betsy has several different prints as well and some mighty cute ones.

OsoCozy AIO Review

Giggle Britches sent me a OsoCozy AIO diaper to review a couple of weeks ago.  This is a daddy tested and daddy approved diaper according to my husband.

This is a contour form fitted with soft PUL waterproof liner and Aplix hook and loop closure.  The diaper is very soft and fits perfectly on my little girl.  The Aplix hook and loop have the fold over laundry wash.  They come in four sizes and are made in the USA by stay at home moms and grand moms.  We were sent the unbleached diaper as seen above, but they also have a bleached version.

We did not have any leak issues and DD is still on the tiny side with skinny legs and this contour form fitted diaper fit perfectly around the legs and the waist.  The diaper washes well and dries quickly, which is a must for Moms on the Clock.

What daddy liked the most about this diaper is that you put it on just like a disposable diaper and he likes this.

We did try this diaper at night time and found it worked better with a diaper cover but I think that is because my little one is a big night time wetter.  We didn't have any issues with this diaper during the day or even a long car ride.

And right now if you head on over to Giggle Britches you can get this diaper for 10% off, and if you have any questions, LeAnn will be glad to help you!  She is a super sweet and a great woman to work with. Also let me know if you have any questions and I would be glad to help you.

You can find Giggle Britches on Facebook which is constantly kept up to date with sales and whats going on.

Peanut Butter Balls Dipped in Chocolate Recipe

HAND-DIPPED PEANUT BUTTER BALLS

1 1/4 lbs. butter, softened at room temperature
3/4 lb. confectioners' sugar
1 c. crunchy peanut butter
Dash of salt

Mix all ingredients by hand. Roll into small balls. By the time you roll 150 balls, they should have a crusty-like feel on the outside, which is necessary prior to dipping.

Recommendation: Place these in the freezer which will help with the dipping!!

Enjoy!! We are going to make some of these tonight!

Guest Blog Post: Xenia from Thanks, Mail Carrier

Today's Guest Blog Post is from Xenia from Thanks Mail Carrier.  http://thanksmailcarrier.blogspot.com/
Thank You, Xenia!!

My Santa Claus is my mail carrier. Don’t you agree? Aside from the junk and the bills, the excitement over what small gift he may bring me is as good as Christmas morning each day when his little truck comes down my block. The extra bonus of this is that EVERY day is Christmas (except Sundays. And, ironically, holidays like Christmas).

When I decided to start a blog, my first hurdle was coming up with a name. Seasoned blogger friends of mine said to pick something that was important to me and that I could live with. I was already addicted to entering online giveaways (once you win one or two, it’s all downhill from there) and knowing that I wanted to write my own review blog, I figured I would focus on the root of it all, my mail carrier.

Thanks, Mail Carrier started off slowly and has grown into something that I love and take immense pride in writing. For anyone who is thinking of starting their own review blog and has the idea that it’s pretty easy (that companies will come knocking down your door to have you write about their products) let me tell you that it takes a LARGE time commitment and an ego that can withstand rejection… or just flat-out being ignored.

Aside from the sponsors and the reviews though, blogging has opened up a world that I never realized existed. I have met so many wonderful women (and the occasional man) since starting my blog, that I was shocked at how easily the friendships are formed yet how meaningful they are. I can’t imagine not having such wonderful people only an email or a comment away that are there to answer any question I have or just for a kind word.

Whether people find my blog though a giveaway listing or they stumble upon it accidentally, I appreciate each and visitor and read over every single comment that is left. I’ll get an occasional email from a reader just saying that they enjoyed that day’s post and that makes my heart skip a beat that I’ve written something that has entertained someone other than just myself!

Thank you to Shannon for giving me this opportunity to say hello to everyone over here at Coupon Mommy of 2... Now 3 and I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season! I welcome you to stop by Thanks, Mail Carrier and say hello!

Guest Blog Post: April from WeeLittleChanges

Today's Guest Blog Post is from April from http://www.weelittlechanges.com/
April thank for being my guest blogger today!!

The Numbers Speak

People choose to use cloth diapers for many reasons. There is the obvious (or not so obvious) environmental factor, they are better for baby and they cost a lot less. You have most likely heard of all the money you could be saving by using cloth diapers, but let’s take a look and see exactly how much!

Here is what you would pay for one child using disposable diapers:

*Prices came from Pampers brand sold at local bulk store in NC.

There are many different options out there for cloth diapering. I have decided to do a cost comparison to a diaper that is growing in popularity called Grobaby. This type of cloth diapering method is sometimes called an “AI2” or “All in Two” system. Basically, the concept is that you need to do less dirty diaper laundry because you reuse the outer shell of the diaper. For each diaper change, the snap in organic cotton soaker pad is replaced with a fresh one. There is no need to change the outer shell of the diaper until it becomes soiled. Grobaby has even come out with a snap in biodegradable soaker pad that can be flushed, composted or thrown away. Pretty cool! And wait…it gets better. The diaper is one-size fits most, so that you can use this diaper from the baby phase all the way to potty training! Please take note, that this system of diapering is not the most economical choice when it comes to cloth diapers. If you want even greater savings, I would suggest researching the costs associated with using prefolds and covers. My example uses an average number of shells, soakers and boosters needed for one family. Some families may find it more convenient to have more on hand before having to do a load of laundry.

Here is what you would pay for one or more children using Grobaby cloth diapers:
Does it sound too good to be true? It’s not. The only negative I have found is that the Grobaby diapers are supposed to be a one-size that fits most. With that being said, some newborn babies are simply too skinny to wear these from day one with no leaking issues. There are several options to get you through this newborn phase during the first few months. If you had the means, you could buy some newborn size diapers, but you would probably only get two to three months use out of them. Or you could borrow some from a friend or buy used (diaperswappers.com is a great resource). Another option would be to hire a diaper service in your local community. You would basically be renting the newborn diapers (prefolds/covers) from them and they would do all of the cleaning for you. If you don’t have the budget for such luxuries, many online diaper boutiques offer newborn rentals for very affordable rates. For example, Wee Little Changes (www.weelittlechanges.com) offers a two month newborn rental package for $80. Included in the package are 24 X-small FuzziBunz pocket style diapers that would normally retail for over $400.

I think the numbers speak for themselves. It is a wonder to me why and how people that watch their dime choose not to use cloth diapers!
