A Little bit about how GAD came about...
I started making diapers for my oldest son when he was 10 months. They were not pretty, but they got the job done well enough that I knew with some better materials, they would really work. I got my first Purchase of microfleece, windpro and PUL and got an amazing amount of 13 diapers out of the PUL and Microfleece. These were not pretty either, but they worked! Then I bought a snap press and really started having fun. I loved the cloth diapers, but I hated the way the Velcro scratched his belly, made a diaper snake in the wash and snagged on everything. Once I had the press I started making diapers for friends and selling them too. I was very proud of these diapers, but now I look back and they were still ugly! lol. I made some MAJOR changes to the design with the help of my good friend Mandy. She is one of those great people who can be brutally honest and because of her wonderful constructive criticism GAD was born. Only a few minor changes have been made to the diaper since my web store opened back in May, 2004. The larges got smaller rear ends in January of 2005 (eliminating "Butt Flare") and the mediums & Smalls got smaller wings which gave them more leg room. We also added a new size in 2006, the medium long, it's just great for those tall skinny babies. I also had a baby in December of 2004, so 2005 was a busy year!
Shannon has a wide selection of embroidery that you can pick to have embroidered on your diaper. I fell in love with many of them and they are super cute! She also gives you full detail on the sizing which is definitly important when making a cloth diaper purchase.
When I received this diaper, I realized it was white. This was my first white cloth diaper and I can't tell you how nervous I was about it staining. But at the same time I couldn't wait to put this diaper on Baby B. This PUL Pocket Diaper I received is made with PUL on the outside and organic bamboo on the inside. She also has microfleece that can be put on the inside and these stay dry to the touch. The wing snaps are hidden and the pocket opening is finished.
I found that I really liked the wing snaps hidden and they were easy to deal with that way when taking on and off. Even DH tested the diaper and liked how easy it was to put on and take off. This is especially important when they are hungry and want to eat right away. Yes that happened to us it was time for a diaper change and Baby B was so hungry, but this diaper was easy to put on (as long as you have the insert already in the pocket!).And Baby B's heiny was so flippin cute. Oh you just wanted
to pinch her little heiny it was so cute. The girls and DH loved the design and loved the way it look on Baby B. Green Acre Design (GAD) Diapers have a lot of great qualities about them, they are super absorbent, trim fitting and easy on the pocket with money!
Did we have any leaks? NO!! Baby B likes to lay on her tummy and with some diapers that we have they leak in the front. No such problem here. That night I tried this diaper with Baby B she hadn't gone poo for two days so we knew it was coming soon just didn't know when. Well it happened to happen while in her sleep and I woke up to the smell of breastmilk poo, so I had to change her. Well when I laid her down I feared it was going to be everywhere and had blown out of the diaper!!! Again we had no problems. Even DH was shocked. The only mess we had was inside the diaper where it should be! YEA! This diaper was daddy and mommy tested and Mommy and Daddy approved!
