Need Some Help with Organic Recipes

As many of you know if you are following my daughter's story, we have gone to all organic.  I have been doing a lot of research and looking for lots of recipes.  I have been successful to find quite a few and then finding others where I have just used the same products that you would non organic, but most of the recipes I located were through Whole Foods, but I would still love to have more..  While home, its actually been fun to make food from scratch, because it is so good.

Can anyone help?  While here in the hospital it is great to have something that I can compile and then make recipes when we are home.  I think I am going to have to start a recipe book, I've never had one before, but I think I will with this to make it so much easier for us.  I'm eager to have other wonderful organic recipes in our menu.

Thanks for your help!

I have been thinking about you guys. Here are some links that might be helpful for finding and cooking organic food:

Here are some recipe resources
http://www.moosewoodrestaurant.com/recipes_archive.html
http://www.vegetariantimes.com/
http://www.mariasfarmcountrykitchen.com/marias-recipe-index/ (This site is run by Rodale, an organization that basically invented modern organic farming ... hunt around their entire site if you have time; LOADS of great information and resources here)

Good, all-around resources for healthy food
http://www.sustainabletable.org/home.php
http://www.farmtotableonline.org/
http://www.farmtocity.org/Links.asp (a lot of these are specific to the Philadelphia region, but there are also national programs linked here)

Resource for locating farmers' markets, local farms, etc.
http://www.localharvest.org/

Also do a Google search for "eat fresh eat local" and the name of your state. Depending on your state, you might find a lot more resources! Investigate farmers' markets and CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture, where you essentially buy a "subscription" to a farm for the growing season and get an awesome variety of fresh, local food). Buying from small farms will be WAY cheaper than Whole Foods and places like that.

And, I'll end this disjointed comment with one last note:

There are all kinds of politically-driven reasons for this which you can research (and the above websites get into this, too), but it's good to know that the term "Organic" costs a LOT of money for companies to use. The amount they need to pay to the government in order to get certified is insane, and most small farmers can't afford that. So if you guys are buying food locally, some of the farms near you might use terms like "sustainable" or "naturally grown." It's good to double check and make sure they aren't using pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, etc., but most likely they aren't saying "organic" because they aren't allowed! Their growing practices will be just as safe--or even safer, in some cases--and they will be more than willing to talk with you about how and why they raise their food.

Good luck! You are making a great choice for your family, and I hope you all see positive health effects--especially Emily!
