All I Want for Christmas Event: FUNKtastic Bouncing Woolies Review and Giveaway Ends 12/7

Recently I won a blog giveaway and I won a set of FUNKtastic Bouncing Woolies and it is not often that I win blog or facebook giveaways so it was rather exciting to have won!  I had the choice of any scent however I didn't pick a scent since I had some at home.

I am a wool ball lover all the way.  I have to be open and honest here, not that I am not already...but when I first heard about Wool Dryer Balls, I said you have got to be kidding they don't cut our drying time in half and I bet that these don't work!

Well if you ever hear someone say that wool dryer balls don't cut your drying time in half, then you tell them that they are crazy! A couple of weekends ago, we got very behind on washing and drying clothes and normally the washing machine is done before the dryer is!  Well, not this time.  I spent one Saturday washing and drying clothes and my dryer was done before the washing machine.

Bouncing Woolies recommends you starting with 4 woolies and adding more later.  The more you add, the less drying time per load. Which I can definitly vouch for this because it is so true. These wool dryer balls are very well made and I have never seen them unravel.  They don't fray either.  Bouncing Woolies has other products too, such as their re-scent packs to re-scent your wool dryer balls, speciality wool dryer balls, and she even does custom design logos!
If you have a chance to check out these awesome Wool Dryer Balls, I suggest you should, I love Shauna, the owner.  We have actually worked together several times in the past.

Here is a little bit about Shauna and I love this story:
I never considered myself "green" or "crunchy" until about seven months ago. I did all of the usual things before that. I used disposable everything, chemicals, convenience. I just grew up that way and didn't really know much else. I have to give credit to a dear friend, *C* and a co-worker, *J*. They showed me everything about cloth diapers. They were patient and helpful! Granted, beforehand, I never thought I'd be the CD kind of gal. I mean..... ewww! Low budget and loss of income forced me to change my way of thinking. I mean, I could try it, right?! Generously, *J* let me borrow her entire stash of size small cloth diapers to try out on my two month old son. After the first day, I was HOOKED. Wow, how easy! How awesome! I ended up purchasing some prefolds, covers and a stash of pocket diapers off of Craigslist that next week and returned the borrowed diapers to her. After venturing into the cloth world, and various social media networks (facebook, twitter), I started to learn more things about the crunchy lifestyle and began practicing more natural parenting ideas with my three year old daughter and infant son. Let's just say, it's brought about a whole new me and an entire different and better way of thinking! I am definitely passionate and almost a green missionary of sorts.

Now, where does Bouncing Woolies come into play? Since the downfall of the economy, our income dropped and we were just never able to get back on top. I stay at home during the day with my kiddos and I work evenings and Saturdays teaching college courses. My hubby works days at a civilian job and also serves in the National Guard. You'd think we'd make scads of money, right? Wrong. We struggle just like everyone else. So, I got to thinking... I'm crafty and graphics savvy. I can create a small buisiness that's green and saves money! I was already making woolies to use at our house, why not make them for consumer purchase so others can save money too! I can help save the environment and people's pocketbook one woolie at a time. Once the idea came to mind, it all just fell into place and here we are.

BUY IT:

Woolies may vary in size per order because our products are handmade, not mass produced.  We guarantee that our woolies are much larger and heavier than the other big brands on the market.  Specific materials may vary per availability.  Scents may seem less strong at first because our scents are deeply injected into the core.  The deep scent will work it's way to the top layer while in use.

Wooltopia Wool Dryer Balls Review and Giveaway Ends 10/28

Have you ever looked for a product that could take the place of those horrid chemical filled dryer sheets?  Slowly, one thing at a time, I am working on removing chemical filled products and replacing them with re-usable products. One of those would be the dryer sheets.  I love fresh scent smell on clothes, it gives me that sense of belief that they are clean.

So, I didn't know what could take the place of a dryer sheet and then there it was right in front of me. All cloth diapering momma's know about this stuff.  Haha, I didn't know anything about them.  Here is how I learned about them: one night I posted a question on my facebook fan page, Coupon Mommy, "What are Wool Dryer Balls and what are they used for?" Boy, I was surprised at how many answers I received and even some mommy's were making their own, so I asked about that.

The next day, I had an email from Erin from Wooltopia wanting to know if I would like to review her Wool Dryer Balls?  Oh I was so excited but still had that mindset do these really do what they say they do?

I received 4 undyed dryer balls and funny thing was that afternoon I had cloth diapers in the washing machine that needed to be dryed.  So, I thought perfect timing, lets see what these balls will do. Will they do all they say they will?

They help to reduce drying time, reduce static electricity, and soften your clothes. Our dryer balls are made of 100% wool. They are wound to about 10 inches in circumference, but shrink down to about 9-9.5 inches in circumference. They are 3 oz each.

By using 4 dryer balls in each load, you can reduce drying time by 25% on medium loads!

So I threw them in the dryer, but first time I only tried with 2 wool balls to see if I would notice a difference. A little bit, but not much, but I also think that I had too many cloth diapers in there so I think two balls was not enough.  Next I tried four dryer balls and they were done in half hour whereas they normally take about 45 minutes.  Yes, I do time it, because it is important to me.  I did purchase 2 more because I have heard many people use 6, so I tried with 6, and wow what a difference.  It took 24.5 minutes to finish drying and I have to tell you, when they come out they are so soft and fluffy like your fluff should be.
I not only tried with Cloth diapers, but I also tried with my clothing and even moreso our comforters.  I tend to wash clothes at night, hence that is when I am home so a lot of times things that get washed need to be dryed quickly.  One night my comforter got dirty from one of the girls and I washed it.  I threw 6 wool dryer balls in there and in no time it was dry and I was able to use it to go to bed.

While I didn't try any of the scents through Wooltopia, she does offer several scents called Scent Again that you can use on your wool dryer balls to satisfy you with the scented pleasure.  If you are like me, I love my clothes to smell to give me that sense that they are clean.

Wooltopia also makes custom wool boardshorties, they are super cute.

FluffaLumps Wool Balls Review and Giveaway Ends 10/21

I love to wash and dry Baby B's Cloth Diapers and they are particularly the only thing that I really like to even fold and put away!  HAHA. I came across FluffaLumps when they emailed me about reviewing her products and I was so excited.  Why?  Because she makes Wool Dryer Balls.

Ok, back up...yes it is true, I didn't know what in the world Wool Dryer Balls were and what they were for at one time, but over time I have learned not only from experience, but also from reading up on them and using them.

The owner behind FluffaLumps is Victoria and she is a really sweet woman.  She sent me 4 Wool Dryer Balls, 2 of them to review and 2 for one of my lucky readers!

Bio

My name is Victoria, I am a school librarian in PA and I am a brand new mommy to my son Carlo who was born on April 30th. In my quest to become more Eco-friendly for my family, I learned to make dryer balls after I started cloth diapering.

I work on my dryer balls after work and I hope you enjoy the array of colors I have selected!

So, like I said I started to play around and see what these balls were all about.  The first thing I tried them with is a comforter.  My comforter normally takes running it through the dryer cycle twice and honestly this used to drive me crazy because I always washed them late at night so moreoften than not I wouldn't have my clean comforter ready for bed.

First I tried with 2 wool dryer balls and I still had to go through 2 dry cycles, but it was a little bit less.  Each time I added 2 more wool dryer balls until I could get my comforter down to 1 dryer cycle.  Ladies, I was able to use 6 wool dryer balls and finally cut down to 1 cycle to dry my comforter and even less than one full cycle.

Using a wool dryer ball can cut your drying time down about 20%, but it also cuts down the static that you tend to have. These dryer balls are felted very well and don't seem to fray with some others that I have, and she makes all different colors of them. And did you know she has many different scents that you can chose from if you want to have scented wool dryer balls.

So what makes me love wool dryer balls so much:
  • I converted my mama (SMILE)
  • no need to use dryer sheets
  • cuts down my drying time
  • my clothes and cloth diapers are so soft (and so FLUFFY)
But there is something else that I use these wool dryer balls for, don't laugh but I do. I have some scented that I put on my wool dryer balls and sometimes if I forget to take a dirty diaper out of the diaper bag, the diaper bag stinks.  So, I keep 2 wool scented dryer balls in my diaper bag and the diaper bag is always smelling so fresh and so clean!!
